CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AT THE CORE OF OUR BUSINESS MODEL
Mangalis actively develops the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) philosophy to guide all of our activities.
Our teams are working hard to implement fair trade policies, build or renovate our properties according to green hotels guidelines, facilitate the development of local talents and support entrepreneurship!
We are implementing ambitious international standards for continuous decrease of energy consumption and CO2 emissions, for removal of architectural barriers, correct waste management for recycling, and acoustics pollution reduction.
Mangalis is also committed to the 10 principles of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), being one of the very few African companies to be part of this international platform.
UNGC it is the largest voluntary corporate responsibility initiative in the world, with over 12,000 corporate participants and other stakeholders from over 145 countries. It was born as a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption.
We are supporting employees’ personal and professional growth, celebrating diversity and human dignity.
We are favoring local hiring so to ensure that the local residents benefit from the opening of one of our branded hotels, hence actively participating to the local economic development as well as the professional education and the general well-being of the population.
We are fair trade conscious, promoting buying practices and selecting suppliers respectful of the environment and human rights eco-systems.
A hotel needs to buy a minimum of 3,000+ items, and whenever possible, any article referenced and purchased by us benefit from the ‘Fair Trade’ label.
Our hotels benefit from our large scale buying power, certifying that the manufacturers and workers involved in our supply chain benefit from the opportunity to improve their lives.
UNIQUE ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARDS
We are promoting the sustainable development of our hotels with the objective of reducing CO2 emissions, energy use, water consumption and waste production – up to 30% less compared with the average of the hospitality industry in its respective segments.
We are also developing environmental-dedicated training programs to improve our employees’ awareness, so that they modify their daily habits both at home and when they are working.
We contribute to local crafts and industries development by assisting the local communities’ entrepreneurial initiatives.
We participate directly to the positive economic development and well-being of the local populations, reducing our related carbon footprint and costs, by avoiding whenever possible to buy overseas.
